Sugababes star Mutya Buena has become a mother.

The 19-year-old star gave birth to a baby daughter a week early at a British hospital, in the early hours of yesterday morning (23.03.05).

Bandmates Heidi Range and Keisha Buchanan revealed the happy news after arriving at a music awards ceremony clutching balloons bearing the slogan 'It's a Girl' last night.

Heidi said: "We got the phone call at about 4am yesterday from her mum. She sent us a picture of her from her phone. She's gorgeous."

The pop babe and 26-year-old boyfriend Jay are yet to name their new arrival, who weighed in at a healthy 51b 10oz.

Singer Heidi said mother and baby were in good health, and recovering after the birth - before returning to the studio to continue work on the group's fourth album.

She added: "Mutya's fine, she's at home resting right now. We can't wait to have a little sugababy with us."

Earlier this year, the sexy star, who attended the Brit Awards ceremony last month, vowed that motherhood would not change her.

The dark-haired singer promised her bandmates that having a baby would not curb her partying - and said she planned to hit the town just days after giving birth.

Keisha said at the time: "She's said that a week-and-a-half after she gives birth, she's going to have a large night out on the tiles.

"She's even planned what her first clubbing outfit will be after the baby is born."
