Children between 8-15 years old are also indulging in edutainment, which can dramatically improve intelligence and happiness levels. "It's important for today's parents to remember that even our children (especially our children) need some 'down time' to explore their interests and the world," says Elizabeth Scott.

It is far easier for parents to 'edutain' their kids this year with the wealth of fantastic attractions and centres of learning across the country. Many museums, craft centres, leisure parks, galleries and education centres have stepped up their game and improved their facilities and activities in response to the fact that almost half of us will holiday at home this year.

Museums in particular are offering fun packed events and activity programmes on weekends, bank holidays and throughout the school holiday periods. There are hundreds all over the UK catering for a wide range of interests and tastes. From local history to modern art, dinosaurs to space rockets, there's something for everyone.

The 'Let's Go with the Children' printed guides and comprehensive website, offer a really easy way for parents to look for local opportunities to 'edutain' their kids, and blend learning with fun this summer.
