Pop singer Ashlee Simpson has given birth to a baby boy,

Ashlee and partner Pete Wentz have named their new arrival Bronx Mowgli Wentz, he was born on Thursday night and weighed in at 7lbs 11oz (3.5kg) and was 20.5 inches long.

"Ashlee, Pete and baby Bronx are all healthy and happy, and thank everyone for their well wishes!" a spokesperson told People.magazine

It is the first child for the 24-year-old and her husband, Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz, who married in May.

The pair announced the singer's pregnancy a few weeks after their Alice In Wonderland-themed wedding at Simpson's family home in California.

"I would love to have a big family one day," Simpson told People at the time.

The couple have been together since 2006.
