Aged 6 and 4 respectively, Michael and Alexander Ralph enlisted their mother Stephanie Ralph, 31, in helping to bring the funny yellow characters to life in their bright new bedroom.

Eagerly awaiting the release of the new Minions movie on June 26, Michael came up with the idea and, in a bid to satisfy her son's attention to detail, his mother Stephanie resorted to creating the exact shade of Minion yellow using Valspar's colour matching technology from B&Q.

Stephanie Ralph said: "Both boys are huge fans of the films and Michael had a very firm idea of what the Minion bedroom would look like. We tested lots of different yellows but none were exactly the right shade, according to him. It was only when we colour matched a minion canvas and he saw the paint being created that he felt content that they had a truly 'Minionafied' room!"

Her son Michael added: "Mummy said that I could decorate our bedroom however I liked and when I said that I wanted a Minion room she was a bit shocked to find out that I wanted the whole room painted yellow. But she did say that it was up to me!"

A spokesperson for B&Q concluded: "Young Michael Ralph clearly has a keen eye for detail and we love that his mother Stephanie was so resourceful in her hunt for the perfect colour. By colour matching a Minion they've created a truly authentic hue and have really shown the potential in Valspar's colour matching technology."

Further Minion products are available from selected B&Q stores, with a fashion line available at Selfridges in London and Manchester and the official movie just around the corner.
