Don’t compare yourself to others – Remember; every mother is different! What might work for you friend may not necessarily work for you. Just because you care for your baby in a different way to other mothers you see does not mean one is better than the other. Mother for your child in a way that you find is best for both you and your child and you’ll both be happy.

Trust your instincts – We’re all built with a motherly instinct and it is wise to trust it! If it feels right to pick your baby up when they cry or cuddle them to sleep, go ahead and do it. Instincts are usually always right!

Stay calm – If you lose your cool, your baby will pick up on it and will be distressed and cry louder. Babies can sense uneasiness and if you’re stressing out, so will your baby. Having a calm attitude will make your baby calm and relaxed.

Set a bedtime routine – Get your child in to a bedtime routine as soon as possible and you and your child will be much happier. If they have a routine they are less likely to be disruptive when you are putting them to bed.

Enjoy being a mother – Enjoy spending time with your child as these are the most precious years of their life. Have fun and remember, this little buddle of joy is a part of you.

Cuddle – Cuddles are a great way to bond with your baby, show them affection by giving them cuddles and they are bound to feel loved and give you cuddles back.
