A study of 1,000 women has unearthed the weird and wonderful things new mums crave post-pregnancy, with a good night’s sleep coming out on top.

The survey, by mother and baby brand, Cussons Mum & Me, also discovered that a long, undisturbed bubble bath is what a third of new mums desire the most, while 31 per cent desire crave that first glass of wine, and for a fifth the most important post-birth longing is fitting back into those pre-pregnancy jeans.

According to the poll, mothers from Northern Ireland are most likely to crave a romantic meal with their partner, whereas mums from London are most likely to desire a week’s holiday in the sun.

Other national contenders in the cravings stakes included a guilt-free night out with friends for 16 per cent of new mums, a week off for 15 per cent of those polled, and a tired eight per cent would love to have a live-in nanny.

A spokesperson from Cussons Mum & Me said: “The journey of early motherhood is an eventful one, and life as a new mum is hectic - there are lots of things that you simply don’t have much time for anymore.

“Cussons Mum & Me think it’s important for new mums to look after themselves, as well as baby, and it’s these little pleasures - like a long hot soak or a night out with your friends that can really give new mums a boost.”

Cussons Mum & Me is a new range of products designed to help with the amazing realities of becoming a mum and beyond.

The range has been designed to help with every stage of the journey - from bump to new mum to baby, and addresses three keys needs of mum and baby - sleep, skin and hair.
