Parenting News: New Mums Shun Celebrity Names in Favour of Traditional Ones

New mum Kim Kardashian is rumoured to be struggling to choose a baby name but is thought to be sticking to the Kardashian tradition of beginning the name with K.

She, like many other mums is thought to be sticking to tradition rather than choosing a celebrity name.

Cussons Mum & Me found that 39 per cent of mums will choose a name that they have always loved, rather than name their child after a celebrity.

One in five mums will also choose a name that is already in the family and the same amount will choose a name from a book or film that they love.

Only one in 10 mums said they would choose the name of a celebrity for their new born.

Just under 10 per cent would look to their friends for inspiration and choose a name based on one of their acquaintances.

Like the Beckham’s, 3 per cent will name their child after the place they were conceived.

A spokesperson from Cussons Mum & Me said, “The journey of early motherhood is an eventful one, and baby naming can be very personal, so it’s no surprise to see that a name with true meaning takes the top spot in the inspiration stakes.”

“We’re not sure what inspiration Kim and Kanye will take in naming their new born daughter, but we guess there will be a K involved somewhere.”
