We take a look at four tales of instagram love

In June this year, Denis Lafargue from Louisiana, and Texas-based photographer Elizabeth Wisdom got engaged. It all started in 2012 when Denis commented on a picture of Crater Lake in Oregon that Elizabeth had posted. After visiting each other, Denis proposed to Elizabeth by creating a 30-picture timeline from Instagram, chronicling their relationship, and shared the moment when he went down on one knee with his friends and followers on Instagram.

Beulah and Alex met after Beulah entered an Instagram photo competition. After being named the winner, Beulah gained 200 new followers — one of them being Alex. Both being photographers, they got talking about their work and were soon endlessly emailing and face-timing each other. Eventually, Alex traveled from Alberta, Canada to meet Beulah in Melbourne, Florida, where she lived and they continued visiting each other. In December 2013, while Beulah was visiting Alex he proposed after taking a gondola to the top of Sulphur Mountain. They plan to marry in November this year.

Robin Coe from Toronto, and Matt Flemming from California met by commenting on each other’s photos. Robin began browsing around to find interesting people to follow and one of Matt's cycling photos caught her eye so she left a comment. He then commented on one of her photos and after messaging each other back and forth he asked her to email him. After a year of being email pen pals, Matt gave Robin his number and they immediately hit it off. A few months later, they met in person for the first time. A year later they were married!

For two Russian Instagrammers, Nasya Kopteva and, Sasha Raulov it was their love for handmade letters and envelopes that kindled a deep friendship, which later developed into love. Living in different parts of Russia (St. Petersburg and Moscow) Nasya and Sasha would share small notes or “mail art” with each other. As their love and friendship grew, Sasha made sure he was glued to Nasya’s Instagram account. The couple met through mutual friends on a trip to St. Petersburg’s, Hermitage Museum married in late 2013  and now live together in St. Petersburg. Even though they’re now physically together, their declarations of love through sharing handmade envelopes, postcards and other objects in the mail continues as they post remnants to Instagram as keepsakes.
