A third of Brits would answer phone during sex

Nothing ruins a romantic setting such as a candlelit dinner or an evening stroll more than your partner answering their phone, so imagine if they answered it during sex.

A third of Brits said they found it completely acceptable to answer their phone during sex with the only excuse for their behaviour being that they’ve received important news on their mobile in the past.

As well as the bedroom, 51 per cent said it was more than acceptable to answer their phone at a wedding and 54 per cent said the same about answering their phone at dinner.

Incredibly, even the bathroom wasn’t out of bounds with 57 per cent saying they would answer a call in there but, maybe unsurprisingly, more men than women found this acceptable.

Srini Gopalan Consumer Director at Vodafone UK, who conducted the research, found the results interesting but that Brits didn’t need to go to such lengths due to modern technology, saying, “It seems as a nation we’re desperate not to miss out on the latest gossip no matter what we’re up to.

“But this doesn’t mean you have to take a call even when you’re responding to the call of nature, having a romantic dinner or in bed.

“Now Brits have unlimited calls, they don’t need to interrupt quality time with their partner to answer their phone as there’s no need to worry about the cost of returning a missed call.

“Even cutting a chat short when you do call back for fear of running out of inclusive minutes is now a thing of the past.”

A massive 90 per cent of people felt they couldn’t live without their phones due to them receiving very important news via their device.

A quarter of those polled said they had received a job offer through their mobile and, incredibly, one per cent have been proposed to via their phone.

Despite people answering their phone during sex, Vodafone found that people prefer to text rather than talk and 41 per cent said that they felt the art of conversation was dying with 21 per cent blaming social media and text based communication.
