The second group has been on there for much too long. They are the ‘grass greener’ type who are never satisfied and always waiting for the new email from Claire, Sophie whoever. The third ones are the ‘nill confidence’ ones who have lost all ability to pull anyone. The fourth group is the rarest. They get on with their ex, don’t carry baggage, are open and positive and well able to pull, just not in circumstances to meet anyone. Try and get number four if you can.

How do you show yourself off to the best advantage? Don’t put up a bikini shot taken twenty years ago - you’ll get Mr. Webcam. Get your camera out and take various shots of yourself or get a friend to help. A couple of portraits from different angles, formal and relaxed and include a full length wearing jeans or similar. Be proud of your curves but don’t be tempted to show a cleavage or look tarty because first impressions are hard to get past on the web you’ll put people off. Think about your personal statement and take time over it.

Enjoy the flirtatiousness on line wink at people by all means, and feel wanted again but don’t meet just anyone. Be picky and then you won’t be disappointed. You may not fancy them when you get there but at least they will be likeable. Don’t commit yourself to dinner and always meet somewhere busy. Always chat on the phone first incase he giggles like a girl and talks in a broad Somerset accent. Don’t be tempted by the man posing with his dog in his profile or with the headline that starts with ‘the bitch took everything.’

Lastly, finding love again must take its time, but finding fun must be immediate. You need to get out to get over it. Three years after my break up I have met some really nice people and it has reaffirmed my faith in men and mankind. Love hasn’t come my way yet, but self-confidence, happiness and self-esteem have all come flooding back and I now have a new career since the Divorce. Getting out and making myself socialise was the best thing I ever did. I learnt how to have fun and how to be the real me again.
