It’s a well-known fact that the British love their pouches, we’ve even started dying them, but new research shows that we love our dogs more than we do our partners.
Pedigree Joint Care carried out a survey to find out exactly how much we love our dogs, and the results are rather shocking.
Eighty three per cent of those surveyed said that they consider their Dogs wellbeing to be as important or more important than their own.
A further 16 per cent of that 83 per cent said that they would put their pouches wellbeing before their own!
Does your partner have a dog? You may want to check where their priorities lie, as 65 per cent of Brits consider their dog’s health as important as the health of their partner.
Shockingly, 7 per cent of people consider their dog’s health to be more important than that of their partners!
Sadly, it’s a similar story if you best friend has a dog. Sixty five per cent of dog owners said they care for their Dogs as much as, if not more, than their best friend.
London and Northern Ireland residents are mostly to put their dog before themselves as 25 per cent of them said that they rate their dog’s health more important than their own.
Those in Scotland seem to be more selfish, as only 9 per cent of them said that they would put their dog’s health before theirs.
London are also most likely to put their dogs health before their partners at 15 per cent, with Yorkshire residents having a better relationship with their spouses, registering at only 3 per cent.
Isobel Miller, Care & Treats Senior Brand Manager at Pedigree, says, “Pedigree knows how committed the British public is to its dogs. Our aim is to make sure dogs and their owners can spend a quality life together regardless of age.
“This summer we’re focusing on the issue of joint stiffness by running a series of events across the country and by creating ‘Play Again Plan’ to help owners of dogs experiencing joint stiffness to manage their dog’s exercise regime.”
