The Dark Knight Rises has hit the big screen today and Tom Hardy plays the role of big baddy Bane and despite the mask and the ridiculous voice, he’s still completely delish.

The 34-year-old started his acting career back in 2001 when he started in hit TV show, Band of Brothers. He then went on to star in films such as Ridley Scott’s Black Hawk Down, Matthew Vaughn’s Layer Cake and Guy Ritchie’s RocknRolla.

His big break came in 2008 when he starred in Bronson. He played the notorious criminal Charles Bronson, and was rumoured to have put on three stone of pure muscle for the role.

His talent really shone through, and this was the beginning of an amazing career for the London born star.

The role that really broke him into the big time and showed his full potential was that of Eames in Inception in 2010. Not only did he look beautiful, but he superseded expectations and outshone the other big names in the film.

He gave another star performance in Warrior as Tommy Conlon, but had a small blip with This Means War, a slightly tacky rom-com which failed to show the extent of his talent.

He will star in Lawless later this year as Forest Bondurant alongside Shia LeBeouf, Guy Pearce and Gary Oldman and is currently shooting Mad Max, in which he will play Max Rockatansky, which is set to hit cinemas in 2013.
