Men Worry Aout Buying Lingerie For Their Partner

Despite a massive 80 per cent of women saying they would like their partner to buy them lingerie, 71 per cent of men say it’s something that they worry about.

It’s not just men that have reserved feelings towards the idea, 66 per cent of women admit they are slightly worried about their partner buying lingerie for them.

Passionata lingerie (passionata.com) conducted the study and their consultant Sandra Dyke says there is nothing to worry about when buying your partner lingerie.

She says, “Have a look through your partner’s drawer to check what bra and bottom size she wears and also what brands. Does she have a favourite brand? Use this opportunity to take note of what colours and styles she prefers. Does she have more padded or sheer bras?”

Getting the sizes wrong is a big worry for 70 per cent of women and 69 per cent of men admitted this is what they were most anxious about.

Sandra says, “When you go to the shop, take advantage of the sales assistant’s knowledge. Let her know what size and brands your partner tends to wear as this will give her a good idea of what product you should buy.

“This is important as all brands will fit differently. Opt for a chemise or cami top if you don’t feel totally confident choosing a bra. Or if you would prefer to play it safe, a gift voucher is always a good option. You can always go with her to select something you both appreciate and choosing the right size would then not be an issue.”

Although t-shirt bras are an essential for women everywhere, it was seen as an unsuitable gift by 90 per cent of men and women who thought lingerie should be much sexier when being bought as a gift.

Women like to keep up with the trends with 38 per cent of them wanting to be given lingerie that keeps up with the latest trends.

Sandra says, “Tell the sales assistant what styles your partner tends to wear (half cup, full coverage, push ups etc) and ask which styles have been popular with other women. Ensure you get a gift receipt on purchase as bras can always be refunded or exchanged.”

The t-shirt bra is seen as too little but going too sexy could cost a man too. Despite 56 per cent of men wanting to go the whole hog and buy a black or red set with basque, suspenders and suspender belt, 68 per cent of women wouldn’t appreciate this.

Sandra says, “The most important thing to remember is that if she doesn’t own sexy lingerie, she just doesn’t wear it. So don’t buy it as a gift for her. Hopefully she will buy it as a gift for you!”
