July looks set to be a scorcher, with even hotter weather predicted for August*, which is great news for Casanovas, Romeos and Juliets everywhere. A staggering 77% of us feel more passionate in the summer months, according to a recent survey by online dating experts FreeDating.co.uk.

Of over 2,500 respondents, 82% of men admitted to passionate highs as the temperatures rise and 69% of women are also feeling much more turned on in the summer heat.

Some may find it surprising that while we are kicking off our duvets and reaching for the fans in search of a cooler night’s sleep, exercise between the sheets is by no means off the agenda! Libido’s are soaring with the heat, as 79% of us feel much more attractive in our summer clothing, with 80% of women admitting to feeling ‘hot hot hot’ in skimpy summer garments!

Peta Heskell, relationship coach comments:
“It's not surprising people feel more sexy when the sun shines. A brain chemical known as serotonin soothes and balances the nervous system. Less stress more sex! The more sunlight that hits the retina, the more serotonin we produce. Remember to take off your shades from time to time…that way you get your dose of sun passion and can make eye contact with someone special.”

If passionate loving happens to be off the agenda, a third of respondents would much rather be sipping a cooling beer or cocktail in a bar or lazing about at home out of the rays. Sports seem to take a backbench when the mercury climbs, with only a small one tenth of respondents bothering to work up a sweat, and even walking becomes a chore with just 13% of people citing it as a pastime in the summer months.

Dan Winchester, FreeDating spokesperson comments:
“The results are somewhat impressive as we thought the women would be turned off by sweaty men wearing shorts, but nothing seems to stand in the way of passion when it comes to steamy encounters, not even 37ºc temperatures!”
