Valentine's day is the one day of the year where showing the one you love how much you really love them. Some people use the day to propose to their partners, for that very cheesy romantic gesture. Maybe it is time to bin the cliche and start making up our own memorable moments that both will never forget? The boring thing about proposing on valentine's day is that it's been done over and over again. Over the years it's become a predictable day to do so. Some would associate valentine's day as soppy, cheesy and a day that the card companies invented. Perhaps this is the case, and we have blown the day out of proportion. It has to be the perfect time in your relationship to propose. It may not be valentine's day, but proposing at the right time is crucial. The idea of a proposal is you're both sure that it is the perfect time for you. Valentine's day is one day of the year and it is highly unlikely everyone who is in a serious relationship will find February is the perfect time for them. Every relationship is different after all. Are You Ready? Check out these tips and see if you're ready for your man to pop the question. Time When in a new relationship, the "honeymoon period" can send the romance into a whirlwind. This isn't a bad thing, but the longer the length of time you take to get to know eachother, the more you can learn about your compatibility. The average couple in the UK are together for two to three years before they get married. This isn't for everyone necessarily, but enough time to get to know eachother in depth. The worst a couple could do is to rush into marriage and the other has a secret. Age The legal age in the UK to get married is 16. At different ages we experience life differently than the next person. An example of this is university or a career that requires travelling to different places. A couple has to compromise their lifestyles so it fits with the other person. If a long distance relationship works and agreed both ways, then it can work. It takes time to find out if it works in a relationship, the only way to find out is trying it. It's all about taking chances. Living Together? Great! A person can get to know another if they're around alot. This includes: living habits, likes and dislikes, etc. If living together is difficult, so will the relationship. Meet The Parents Do you have a good relationship with his family? If not, it could cause a strain. A relationship can be built with two people but the support of close family and friends plays a major role keeping that all important connection with the people close to you. Finances It maybe traditional for the bride's father to pay, however with the economy currently burning a hole in our pockets, being financially stable will ensure an enjoyable day and extra cash to begin your life together.
