What is your outcome?
How do you want to be perceived by the other person? A potential long term partner? Fun, easy going or sophisticated? Decide beforehand how you want to come across.
Positive Self-Awareness
Those who make great first impressions are those who are comfortable with themselves, so remind yourself before you set foot outside the door what your good points are and draw on previous successful date experiences.
Control you inner voice
There is a little voice in each of us that fills us with doubt about ourselves. Only listen to the good stuff its saying rather than the negative stuff, as this will help you get through the date a lot easier. If you think positively you will talk positively. Condition it so you only hear what you want to.
Avoid the Micro expression Focus
Micro expressions are tell-tale signs that really let people know what you're thinking, so if you are not having a good time it will show and vice versa. Try not to scrutinize every expression on your date's face, as this might say more about the day they've had or some information they've just received than it does about you. Change your thoughts if you feel that your expressions are betraying you.
Communication
This is both speaking and listening. Listen to your date and make them feel heard- if you are shy, then ask them some questions until you feel a little easier to revel something about yourself. Talk equally about yourself as you do them and don't focus on exes- talking about them in a negative way can imply that you are still not over them or ready to move on.
