If you’re one of those lone rangers, free spirits or someone who just loves a good globe trot then congratulations are in order, you’re officially more sexually appealing for it!
Intrepid Travel surveyed 880 singles on Australian dating site RSVP.com.au and found that 55 per cent of respondents think that a potential partner having travel listed on their profile makes them more attractive.
The most attractive traveller was considered the adventure seeker with 23 per cent of those surveyed saying that’s the type of traveller they look for. Next with 22 per cent was the ‘off the beaten track’ traveller, and last was the cultural connoisseur with 16 per cent of the vote.
Jo Stewart, a spokesperson for Intrepid Travel, whose head office is in Melbourne, Australia, says, “Travellers are generally considered curious about the world, open minded and adventurous – all of which are attractive qualities.”
Ninety six per cent of those who are interested in travel themselves are looking for someone who also has a passion to see the world.
Melanie Dudgeon, a spokesperson for RSVP, says, “Many singles hope to travel and explore the world with a partner and this is why a common interest in travel is important to such a large majority.”
Fifty nine per cent of singles said they like to travel with other singles, Jo Stewart explains, “Travelling in a small group with other single people is often preferred, because it’s more likely the people in the group will be interested in the same types of activities and it’s a great way to meet new people.”
It also opens up the opportunity for a travelling romance to blossom, something that 72 per cent of those surveyed hoped to happen when they do go travelling.
