Average Young Couple Holiday Together after Four Months

Going on holiday as a couple for the first time is a big step but it appears that young couples aren’t wasting any time when it comes to getting in the sun together.

A young couple will go on their first sun-filled holiday just four months after their relationship began according to research by online travel agency sunshine.co.uk.

The majority of those asked said they had wished they had waited longer to go away together with 32 per cent saying they had rushed into it.

A quarter of the 18-30 year olds surveyed said that their first holiday with their current partner was perfect and 19 per cent said that it was just average.

When taking all answers into account, the most popular destinations amongst young couples holidaying together for the first time abroad were as follows:

1. Turkey             28%

2. Egypt               22%

3. Spain               19%

4. Greece            11%

5. Portugal          7%

When asked who took charge when organising the holiday, 72 per cent of respondents said it was the woman who took the lead.

Chris Clarkson, co-founder of sunshine.co.uk, said, “I think it’s encouraging to see so many young people going together on holiday together, as it can be good for a relationship to have some time together.

“However, there is also such a thing as it being too soon and there’s no point rushing into something you might regret.

“My advice would be to make sure you’re comfortable enough with the person you’re with to go away with them and that you’re both happy with the choice of destination and what you’ll be doing whilst you’re there!

“Turkey is obviously a firm favourite with young couples going abroad for the first time together, and it’s a lovely destination ,so it’s not hard to see why.”
