For couples, Valentine’s Day is one of the most special days of the year but if you’re not part of a couple then it can be rather depressing!

There’s nothing like spending Valentine’s Day alone to really dampen your spirits.

But this needn’t be the case. Here are some tips on how to make your Valentine’s Day just as special if you’re single this year.

Don’t Mope

The worst thing you can do is mope around feeling sorry for yourself, that won’t help you one bit.

If you’ve just got out of a serious relationship then surround yourself with people who love you and get active.

Sitting in on your own with a tub on Ben and Jerry’s, a bottle or six of wine, a soppy film and a box of tissues to wipe your tears isn’t the way to go.

Call Your Friends

The chance is you’ll have at least one single friend when Valentine’s Day comes around so why not give them a call?

If it’s one of your girls then suggest you have a movie night where there’s a strict no rom-com policy allowed!

If you’ve got a single male friend, call them up and suggest you hit the town for a few drinks and a good time – just remember to specify that it isn’t a date, unless you want it to be?

If Your Friends Aren’t Around?

If all your friends happen to have made plans then don’t worry, you can work this to your advantage.

How often do you get a night in to simply spend with yourself? Most likely not very often!

Get a bath running, all your lotions and potions out and have a pamper night. Line up the nail polishes and really take care of yourself.

Order a take-away and watch the film you’ve wanted to watch for ages snuggled up on the sofa – no crying allowed!

Remember…

It’s one day of the year and just because you may be single doesn’t mean a thing so don’t let it get to you down, you never know what is around the corner so just keep positive!
