The pressure to have an amazing date may be mounting but the last thing you need is to let the pressure get to you; take a deep breath and a read of these tips from Judi James for Invisalign.

Top Tips for a Flirty Valentine’s Day

1. Women tend to over-groom when preparing for an evening out in order to boost their confidence, which is more likely to make you feel more uncomfortable. Stick to clothes you feel comfortable in so you’re not constantly worrying about how you look

2. Smile, 31 per cent of women and 21 per cent of men say they notice a person’s smile more than any other facial feature, so first impressions are everything. Smiling also helps you look and feel more attractive too. To achieve an enviable smile you’re confident about showing, you may want to consider a teeth straightening treatment. Invisalign aligners are great as they are virtually invisible and removable so they won’t impact on your lifestyle and if you are on a date, they won’t even notice that you’re wearing them!

3. Always maintain eye contact with your date. Do not gaze off into the distance and lose focus - people can spot boredom a mile off!

4. Plan your small-talk, but keep in mind that the best flirting entails active listening therefore indicating interest in the other person

5. Turn your flirting up a gear by increasing the intensity of your signals. Convert a polite ‘listening’ smile into something more sensual, by softening your eye expression and lowering your chin slightly. The killer technique is the eye-flick, meaning you keep your eyes on theirs as they talk but ‘flick’ your eye-gaze down to their mouth at regular intervals, smiling subtly afterwards to register approval and a subliminal desire to kiss

6. My top tip would be to be yourself – if you are on a date, they are obviously interested in you or you wouldn’t be there in the first place. If you are on a blind date or speed dating, there is no reason to act up; you will just have to carry through this persona to the next round if another date in on the cards!
