Catherine Zeta Jones

Catherine Zeta Jones

Catherine Zeta Jones turns 44 today, so we take a look at her relationships.

In her early years, Jones dated singer Mick Hucknall and was engaged to actor Angus Macfayden.

Catherine met Michael Douglas at the Deauville Film Festival in France in August 1998, while promoting The Mask of Zorro, after the pair were introduced by Danny DeVito.

They began their romance in March 2009 and she says that when they met, she said; ‘I’d rather like to father your children.’ (Wikipedia)

They got engaged on the 31st December 1999 in Aspen, Colorado and got married in the Plaza Hotel in New York City on the 18th November 2000; this was only a few weeks after Douglas has finalised his divorce.

A traditional Welsh choir sang at their wedding and Catherine wears a welsh gold wedding ring, which has a Celtic motif and was originally bought in Aberystwyth.

Mick Hucknall performed with the band Simply Red at their wedding too.

In August 2013, there were rumours that the couple were living part, however were not intending on getting a divorce.  And the press were told that they were ‘taking some time out to evaluate and work on their marriage’. (Wikipedia)

On 1st November there were reports that they were once again living together and they had reconciled their differences.

The couple were estimated to be worth $278 million, according to Sunday Times back in 2009.

Jones once said: ‘I do think I'm lucky I met Michael. Not just Michael Douglas the actor and producer with two Oscars on the shelf, but Michael Douglas, the love of my life. I really do think it was meant to happen.’

Happy birthday Catherine!
