In 1983, he was in the middle of his divorce and met Goldie Hawn on the set of Swing Shift. The pair first came into contact with one another in 1968, during filming of The One and Only, Genuine and Original Family Band. They have been together ever since and are one of Hollywood's longest standing celebrity relationships.

They have a home together in Palm Desert, California and had a son, Wyatt in 1986. They later brought a home in the Shaughnessy area of Vancouver so they could be closer to Wyatt when he got older.

In 1987, they starred in another film together- Overboard as lovers, which marked their last on screen performance together.

The couple used to holiday in the Muskoko region in Ontraio, California, however they had to give up their cottage as too may press and other holidaymakers used to intrude on their privacy through binoculars from Lake Rosseau.

The couple have never married and Russell sums this up perfectly when asked about it by journalists; "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." (IMDB)
