Couples in Britain are known for their night-time natters- but over half of these sleepy sounds have caused arguments and put relationships under strain.

Half of respondents who said their partner talked in their sleep blamed it on the booze, however 71% revealed that their partner is a sleep talker regardless if they have any alcohol in their system or not.

Some said that their loved one's talking made them so annoyed they upped and left for the peace and quiet of the spare room. 3% admitted it had caused their relationship to come to a close.

9% revealed that they or their partner had mentioned their ex while they were asleep leaving the morning after a little frosty.

When this was narrowed down by region- it's the couples in the South West and East Anglia who's dreams are dominated by sex- and not always with their partner *AWKWARD*. So if you live in these areas and your partner calls out someone else's name- don't be surprised.

But if you live in Scotland, the South East, Northern Ireland or the North West- fear not because your significant other is more preoccupied by food in the early hours than cheating.

Couples in London, the West Midlands and Wales don't give a hoot about sex or food- no- they care more about work and their career and consequently talk about it in their sleep state too.

Lovers in Yorkshire, Humberside and the East Midlands prefer to talk TV at twilight and in the North East partners eat, drink and sleep sport so you can rest easy- about your relationship- not at night.

Zoe Ashton, spokesperson for www.Web-Blinds.com, said:

"Sleep talking is much more common than we'd imagined and can seem funny but it must be disturbing if you're trying to sleep alongside a chattering partner, and in extreme situations it can even lead to relationship breakdowns."
