Give it 10- Every couple has an expiry for boxset watching- if it hasn't grabbed you by your cut off point it goes back to the owner or sold on Ebay.

Relationships on Female First

Get really excited if you finish the first episode- Could this be your next TV addiction? You are both quietly confident.

Watch the next few episodes in rapid succession- Your hunch was right. Now you can hunker down and do this!

Get so many late nights- You worry one of you might lose your job. You're both like the walking dead at work until it's all over, unless you're hard core and can watch it all in a weekend. You've done this before- but it all depends when the first view happens. If it's on a school night you know the word 'wait' is not in your vocabulary.

Say 'just one more'- At least once each night- this is the TV equivalent of your pizza, Love Heart and crisp addiction rolled into one. But it's not been diagnosed as an actual illness so neither of you is worried.

Don't exchange words- When you get home- like a well-oiled machine you assume your places on the couch and press splay. 'How was your day?' has to wait.

Live on oven/ take-out food- Cooking takes up valuable boxset watching time so you survive on pizza, Chinese and Indian take away more nights than you care to mention.

Fester in your own dirt- Your living room looks like a landfill- the floors are lined with papers, packets, tissues, crusty plates and toe nails because neither of you could be bothered to tidy up- you might miss something mid-episode if you do- why risk it?

Forget about everything else- The washing piles up, the dust settles and the bed is crusty but household chores are last on your list of priorities right now.

You finish it- And mourn by talking about it endlessly while desperately trying to find out if there's another season. You consider watching it again to get your fix.

Resume normal life- Like the lull after Christmas, you feel the void for a few weeks afterwards but life gets better as things begin to settle down. The washing basket is low, the house is clean and the cupboards are filled with good, wholesome food.

Find a second season or another boxset entirely- And the cycle starts again.
