No selfies!

No selfies!

According to Elite Singles, there are some very big no nos when it comes to your dating profile picture and information. We take a look at each one and discuss why you should stay away from these common pitfalls and increase your chances of getting a message in your inbox.

Spelling or grammatical errors – It shows that you have taken little or no time on this- if you can’t make the effort for your profile, you are probably not going to with the person you end up dating.

Sexual innuendo- Save it for later or never- whatever. Talking about sex before the first date says you are looking for lust not love.

Negativity- Putting a dampner on what is supposed to be a happy and exciting activity is not good form- if you are feeling negative don’t let it filter into your love life so soon. Save the moaning for the bedroom.

Lacking description- Overkill leaves nothing to the imagination, however a name and age implies that you are a 'can’t be arsed' kind of person or that you have something to hide.

Narsicism- The most attractive people are those who either don’t know it or who are modest about it.

Too many clichés- Think of some words of your own not someone else’s. I do not want to be able to finish all of your predicatable sentences.

Too revealing- Ok, we need some mystery in this potential relationship or we will have nothing to talk about, so keep some stuff for later.

And as for your picture:

Sunglasses- Eyes are the windows to your soul as they say- if we can’t see them- you look shifty.

Bad photo-shopping- If you are lying to me already- we have not a hope in hell of meeting up.

Portraits- A wee bit formal for a dating profile- it screams that you are one of those people who over analyse their pictures and so as a couple you will have no memories of your time together because all non-staged pics get binned or hidden.

Selfies- This makes you look self-involved- newsflash- there are two people in a relationship not just you. If you only care about you- then you need to save dating for later in your life.

Group pictures- Which one is you again? There should be no confusion who you are meeting up with for a date or you could be sorely disappointed.

Party pictures- This gives people the impression that you only enjoy clubbing and getting drunk- if that is you but only occasionally opt for another picture or onlookers will prejudge you and think that is all you do.
