Because summer is the best time for a holiday romance!

Summer is the perfect time for a holiday fling, with 88% of Europeans believing it's much easier to meet someone during the summer holidays.

But what should we do to catch the attention of our continental friends? Happn has found the summer lovin' penchants of men across Europe, to give you some top tips for lighting that romantic spark both at home and away.

Italy

If you're set on a holiday romance, head over to Italy. Italian men are the keenest to meet someone in the summer, with an incredible 94% thinking that summer is the easiest time to meet someone new and over three quarters thinking it's the best time to pull.

If you're looking for an Italian stallion, head down to the sand - Italians are most likely to favour the beach as a place to meet new people and in fact, with 59% of Italian guys having tried to get someone's attention at the beach and half having case aside their inhibitions to go up to someone they fancy, you might just be in luck.

Make sure you don your best bikini and scrub up for your trip to the beach though - Italian guys are pretty transfixed by looks when finding a summer fling, so a dash of your favourite perfume simply won't cut it.

One final disclaimer - according to our study, Italian men top the chart when it comes to thinking that summer is a good time for cheating. So if you're looking for a holiday fling, maybe double check whether he's got a ring on his finger!

Spain

Prefer to date an Alejandro to an Alessandro? The Spanish are renowned for their love of a good party, and summer is no different, with the majority of Spaniards saying they think nightclubs are ripe for finding romance, along with music festivals. So get your dancing shoes on and you might find yourself a date - in fact, just the fact you come from a far away land is enough to attract one in four.

But again, think about glamming up first - Spanish men are the most likely Europeans to judge a book by its cover. And be careful if you're after a long term romance, as 87% of Spanish men think summer's a great time to pull someone, but only for a fling.

France

The French have a bit of a reputation for being the ultimate lovers over here in ole Blighty, but it may surprise you to know that one of your best chances of finding a beautiful Frenchman is at a campsite!

We might not feel our most glamourous when pitching a tent, but while the French do think looks are important, they're also the most likely to be drawn intoxicated by your touch - a great excuse to indulge your inner francophile and start puckering up for those cheek kisses.

Don't get too attached though - just like their other continental counterparts, your Frenchman is unlikely to be in it for the long run and over half of them think that cheating in the summer doesn't count, so tread carefully.

Britain

A fling is fun while it lasts, but if you're looking for something a little more serious, the best thing to do is to meet someone on familiar soil! Brits are twice as likely as other Europeans to think that a summer fling will last beyond the flight home, and the least likely by far to be courting two girls at once as the weather gets warmer.

So where have they been all this time? The pub, of course, with almost half saying their local watering hole would be their favourite place to meet someone in the summer. Maybe it's also a sign that they need a little dutch courage before asking a girl out - our home boys were the most likely to cite reduced stress and fewer social barriers as reasons for finding love in the holidays.

They might seem the most reserved (and the least exotic!), but if you're looking for someone sincere and loyal this summer, don't overlook the boy next-door.

Either way though, if things look like they're hotting up at the seaside, make sure you both know - and communicate - how you want things to play out, to ensure that nobody is left disappointed by summer nights long gone.
