What do you tell your dates?

What do you tell your dates?

IllicitEncounters.com has suggested that a little bending of the truth goes a long way in the dating game. People who do have or appear to have interesting jobs are more likely to get hits from people wanting to date them. So if you are zoo keeper or secret agent you can feel smug in the knowledge that you will be asked out on lots of dates- however, if work in a shop or sell houses- good luck with that!

Both men and women lie on their dating profiles- men more so about their fitness levels and women about their age.

Spokesperson for Illicitencounters.com Mike Taylor said, “Having a dull job can really affect your chances of finding a date - such a small profile space means making an impression is tough and others can quickly judge you on what you do, rather than who you are. The saying goes, ‘dress for the job you want, not the one you have’, and the same goes for online dating - put yourself forward as who you want to be not who you currently are. Having spoken with our members, the interesting thing is that when they meet each other on a first time date they are rarely disappointed despite the white lies that may have been previously told. ”

Men’s white lies tend to revolve around knowing famous people and women pretend to like football in the hope to impress men- going as far as checking the scores of games before a date.

Both men and women are willing to sacrifice things in the looks department if a prospective date’s job was enough to keep the conversation going and capture their interest.

Americans tend to be a little more liberal with the truth, with 53% admitting to lying in a dating profile, whereas only 37% of Brits do the same.

The top ten lies told when online dating:

1.     Claiming to be slimmer/fitter

2.     Job (better)

3.     Knowing famous people

4.     Car (better)

5.     Age (lower)

6.     Claiming to read books they haven't

7.     Claiming to be taller

8.     Claiming to be better travelled

9.     Claiming to be a non-smoker

10.   Claiming to be a Vegetarian
