Pixengo: App of the Week

Pixengo: App of the Week

App: Pixengo

Available On: iOS Devices

Price: Free

What is it?

Pixengo is the app that allows you to make your photos that little bit more personalised by adding a voice message to the photo.

You can then send the photo to your partner via Facebook, Twitter or the more personal route of email.

Once you’ve signed in you can see what others have posted on the app before building your personal profile with your name and picture so that your friends know who you are.

Pixengo is linked to your Facebook so you can share the pictures with your Facebook friends really easily as well as add them on the app itself.

You then choose a picture from your library or take a new picture and once you’ve edited it to how you would like it to look you can then add your message.

You have 30 seconds worth of voice message to add to each photo and once you’ve finished recording it, you have the choice of who you want to send it to and how you wish to do it, simple!

We Like:

The overall idea is really good as you can put personal messages over the images instead of just a standard caption.

We really like the idea that you can use it to lead your partner to a romantic surprise by taking pictures and adding directions and clues as the voice message, it makes it really special.

Another feature we really like is that it takes inspiration from Instagram as you can edit the picture by putting a different effect over it as well as adjusting the brightness and contrast.

The sharing platforms are varied, which is great as you can share something with a large number of friends over Facebook and Twitter, or you can send a personal one to your partner via the secrecy of email.

It’s a nice alternative to photo sharing, especially if you’re in a long distance relationship as it allows you to hear your partner’s voice as well as see where they are and what they are up to.

Downfalls:

The biggest downfall for us was that you have to sign in through your Facebook to use this app.

Traditionally, other apps will let you sign in via an email address but also give you the option of signing in using your social network platforms.

Although some people may prefer to use their Facebook, we’d have much preferred it if it was entirely separate, with the option of sharing things through Facebook.

We also think that 30 seconds worth of voice message isn’t quite enough. Obviously there are times when that would be plenty but we think that 1 minute would have been better suited.

Verdict:

This app is a nice idea, there just need to be a few tweeks made to make it even better. There aren’t many people using it at the moment but once it has found its feet it could really take off and become the next big photo sharing app. Definitely worth the free download to have a play around and surprise your friends and loved ones with a personal message!
