Today is National Fast Food Day- If you stick rigidly to what's written in your diary then you must also do what the National Calendar tells you to do too!

It's convenient- Wednesdays are hard enough without having to go home and cook a meal for two, so go easy on yourself and have at least one thing to look forward to today.

It will put you in a better mood- Drive throughs are something normally reserved for a hangover cure on Sundays or a cheeky meal between shops on a Saturday afternoon- not week days. Although it's the middle of the week, it will help you to extend some of the weekend vibes.

It's fun- No matter how old you get, you still get a kick out of take-out burgers and fries. It brings back memories of fast food parties and the toys you used to get with every purchase.

It's inexpensive- Generally fast food is cheap and cheerful- meaning you can have a little indulgence without it affecting your joint account funds too much.

There is zero washing up- You don't have to fight over who washes up or loads the dishwasher, only who dumps the bag of wrappers in the bin.

There's no judgement- If you're one of those couples who likes to order extras- it's ok because the cashier will probably think you're buying for three. You can get away with having eyes bigger than your belly because it's your little secret.

You can treat each other- If you really want to take your partner out for something to eat but you can't afford a fancy meal- this is a close second.

You don't have to get dressed up- When you book a meal out, you feel compelled to put on your best and spend time on your appearance. A take away requires no prior preening- you can rock on up in your work clothes or your sweats and no-one will bat an eyelid.

It heals old wounds- If you've both had a day where you feel you've made no progress and everyone has done their job at a snail's pace- fast food can restore your faith in humanity. At least one thing has gone to plan and in a timely fashion.
