Today is National Buy Nothing Day so we take a look at why buying your partner things all the time is dangerous trap to fall into.

You need to break the habit people!

You need to break the habit people!

They will expect it- If you get into the habit of buying your partner things all the time they will always be waiting for the next one. If one day you break the habit they'll be unpleasantly surprised. Better to keep the treats to times of celebration rather than just on a random day of the week.

It makes your relationship money based- If you buy your partner presents, your relationship will become less about the little; free things your do for them and more about the monetary value of the gifts you are giving.

It may make your partner spoiled- If they become used to being showered with gifts all the time, they may start to turn into a spoiled brat who focuses on gifts rather than affection and gestures that cost nothing.

The more important things will get overlooked- Making them a cup of tea, cooking them their evening meal or ironing their outfit because they're in a rush will all fall to the way side because they will start to mean less compared to the other purchases.

They will be easily disappointed- It's difficult enough to get gifts right at Christmas and birthdays but if you're gifting regularly, you are bound to get it wrong at some point and they'll become more frequently disappointed with your choices.

You'll run out of money fast- Better to spend your money on something really special once or twice a year than fritter away your wages on regular gifts that your partner may not ever use or appreciate.

It won't make them any happier- Think about it- when you've bought something for yourself- the novelty wears off pretty quickly. Even if it's something they think they need, the item will get put in a drawer and forgotten about because it's no longer exciting.

It's too close to Christmas- The festive season is already in full swing- your partner only has to wait a few more weeks for some gifts. Christmas is a time to think about more people than just your partner- if you spend all your money on them you'll have nothing left for your family.
