We’ve all seen the romantic love films, saucy TV dramas and by now most of us have read about S&M in the Fifty Shades trilogy.
Now, a new survey has revealed that what we watch and read can have an effect on our Sex lives, as we try to recreate those iconic scenes.
Online adult store Bondara conducted the survey and found that three quarters of the respondents had acted out Sex practice that they had watched or read about.
A further 70 per cent said that their love lives had been affected in a positive way due to modern literature, films and TV shows.
It’s not unusual for us to fell jealous of the on screen sex sirens and their sexual activity, they never seem to stop, and nothing goes wrong!
The good news is that one third of respondents feel that their sex lives are actually better than the characters on TV and in films and books.
Not surprisingly, Fifty Shades of Grey was the winner when it came to influencing sex lives, with 39 per cent of respondents putting it top of their list.
Fifty Shades was by no means the first to influence audiences though, Secret Diary of A Call Girl influenced 28 per cent of respondents and Sex and The City influenced 9 per cent.
Chris Simms, MD of Bondara says, “We’ve noticed a massive increase in demand for adult toys recently, particularly those featured in popular books and shows.
“Sales of Ben-Wa balls, which are featured in Fifty Shades Of Grey, have increased by over 400% since the book’s launch.
“People are becoming much more comfortable with sex and we’re finding that they are willing to try much more than ever before.
“We’ve had a large surge in customers buying bondage gear, particularly blindfolds and restraints – who’d have thought they would become mainstream items found in suburban bedrooms across the world.”
