Singles in London, Manchester and Leeds took part in the event which literally saw them wearing a heart on their sleeve.

Thankfully, it was a real heart! The badges let other people know that you’re single and looking for love.

It’s not only great for those looking for a date, but also for those people who are trying to find dates for their single friends!

Sarah Beeny created the site in 2005 and is hoping that this idea will encourage people to get that all important date for Valentine’s Day.

Sarah said, “It’s about time we lost the stigma around being single – especially at this time of year. Singles should be proud and open about looking for a date, and more importantly they should help increase their success rate, by getting their friends involved in the search.”

Those who get involved with the campaign are asked to take to social media and use the hashtag #heartonsleeve to find their perfect partner.

The website will be offering a free six month membership to three randomly selected singles who get involved with the online chat.

Sarah added, “We don’t want singles to be feeling sorry for themselves around Valentine’s Day, we want them to talk about dating and get their mates involved in finding a hottie.

“We think everyone should be proud enough to wear their heart on their sleeve, and people who are already in a relationship should realise they can help out a lot more.

“Singles involving their friends in the dating experience are likely to find it much more of a fun and rewarding process. It’s good for the friendship too; those in a relationship can live vicariously through their single mates’ experiences.”
