We use them for pretty much everything and they’ve transformed the way that we meet people and date.

Internet dating has become increasingly popular, with many people choosing to use it as it fits in well with their busy lives.

Apps for our smartphones allow us to connect with people all over the globe as well as find and arrange dates.

In one respect, smartphones and the internet have boosted our love lives to unbelievable proportions but could they also be tearing them apart?

One Direction’s Zayn Malik has been rumoured to have cheated on his Little Mix girlfriend Perrie Edwards with a waitress whilst Perrie was on tour.

Just hours after the story broke the waitress posted pictures of what appears to be Zayn Malik sleeping in bed next to her.

She has claimed that his is evidence that he has asked her back to his London home after a night out.

Of course, if Zayn has cheated on Perrie then she only has a right to know but surely this isn’t how she should have found out?

New research from mobileinsurance.co.uk shows that most cheaters get caught by evidence on their mobile phone.

In the instance of cheating and affairs, obviously it’s important that the person who is being cheated on finds out but should it be in that way?

In Zayn’s case, his name has been tarnished before he even had a chance to explain himself and it could be a case of mistaken identity.

It could be argued that mobile phones could actually increase mistrust in relationships. If your phone is sitting around then your partner might find themselves going through it – they create temptation.

That could then lead to them seeing a text from someone and overthinking it, leading them to distrust you on the basis of nothing!

Of course, the internet and smartphones are revolutionary and offer great alternatives and opportunities but they don’t always improve our relationships.
