A new survey by affordable car hire booking company, Auto Europe has found that men get over the holiday blues quicker than women- so we take a look at how couples pull together to get over going back to work.

Go shopping!

Go shopping!

Send emails- 'This time last week we were doing this', with a picture of you both tanned, relaxed and happy. This can go one of two ways- you will feel nostalgic and calmer or resentful that your partner is teasing you with pretty pictures when you are tearing your hair out playing catch up.

Print out your pictures- Go to your nearest supermarket and get all of your snaps developed to put in this year's holiday album. It brings you a few hours of pleasure to arrange them in some disenable order and replay every day.

Go shopping- If the summer sales are still on you take the opportunity to buy things that might come in handy next year like sun tan lotion and bathing suits. You might as well save the money.

Pack your things away for next year- Once all the washing is done you both fold your summer clothes neatly away in the suitcase so you have a clean and tidy holiday wardrobe to go back to, plus all of your new purchases.

Tell everyone- Your family, friends and work colleagues ask you how it was and you can't help but both gush over many a funny story and how if you won the lottery you would move out there immediately.

Change your desktop background- To one of you where you are looking smug by the beach. Every time something goes wrong at work you can reminisce or look forward to the next time you'll be doing it all again.

Eat- You have both eaten like a bird to get into your bikini and trunks, so it's time to enjoy your carbs again. You stock pile on pizzas, pasta and bread because no one is going to see your bod again until next year.

Drink- Why not continue with some homemade cocktails to get a flavour of holiday at home? For a few weekends after your return, you both like to mix things up with your beverages and sit out in the sunshine- it's a weak contender, but you settle for it.

Avoid the gym- You lived in there pre-holiday, so you enjoy not having to go anymore until all the food and drink starts to take its toll. For now you settle for sex and walking from your car park to your desk and back as exercise.

Book another holiday- You can't help but look for something to keep your mood elevated and what other way to beat the post-holiday blues than with another trip away? Whether it's a mini break or next year's two weeks abroad, it heals all wounds.
