4 Things Stephenie Meyer Taught Us About Love

The Host is Stephenie Meyer's latest book to film adaptation and is set to be a big hit after the success of The Twilight Saga.

We're taking a look at some of the key elements from her work and showing what they taught us about love.

Sex Should Wait

If you haven't seen Twilight by now then where have you been? Anyway, Bella and Edward might have been together for a while but it isn't until they're married that they have sex.

Now we're not saying you have to wait until marriage to have sex but it's always better to wait, just to make sure that you're ready!

In her book, The Host, Jared and Melanie choose not to have sex because they've no contraception, so not only is Stephenie promoting responsible sex but also safe sex - hurrah!

You Can Love Two People at Once

One of the most interesting storylines in Twilight is the love triangle between Edward, Bella and Jacob.

We see this mirrored again in The Host with Jared, Melanie and Ian. What Stephanie is telling us is that you can love two people at once.

Now, Stephenie Meyer always seems to work it out and leave it with a happy ending but it doesn't always work like that!

You Need to Lose Someone to Appreciate Them

There is an old saying that goes something along the lines of 'absence makes the heart grow fonder' and this is certainly true in the world of Stephenie Meyer.

In Twilight: New Moon, Edward leaves Bella and this ends up in her risking her life to save him because she simply can't get over her love for him.

In The Host, Melanie goes in search of Jared after being separated because she can't live without him and misses him madly.

Basically, if something is worth fighting for, then you'll only really realise just how much it's worth to you after losing it.

Women Will do Anything for Love

We all know that women will pretty much do anything for love and Stephenie demonstrates this perfectly.

Bella risks her life on numerous occasions and ends up taking on The Volturi, all in the name of love.

Melanie also very nearly meets her end in order to save her brother's life and once again to be reunited with her loved ones.

So when it comes to love, we woman are going to great lengths!
