A new study has found that the average person has 40 friends- meaning the average couple has 80 friends between them. Whether they are mates with you, your partner or both of you- these people all tend to fall into seven categories. Do you recognise any of these characters?

The Organiser

This buddy is always the one to schedule in your next catch up even though you only just had your last one. They drum up excitement on social media by tagging all who are invited. And if you make up a lie to get out of it- you both need to have matching stories for the next time you go out or they will know you just couldn’t be bothered to go out AGAIN.

The Motivator

This person is always encouraging you to step outside your comfort zone as a couple- anything from trying out a threesome to going on an extreme sports holiday. You agree to think about whatever it is they are suggesting just to get them off your back- but what you really want to say is ‘we like our live the way it is- thanks’! The trouble is they never take ‘no’ for an answer.

The Oracle

Whatever it is you want to do next- go on holiday, try out a new hobby, go and see a movie- this person has done it all and are more than willing to tell you whether it’s worth it or not. Sometimes their knowledge is invaluable and SOME of their recommendations have been surprisingly good. BUT they can get annoying if you spend an entire evening with them- their know-it-all attitude starts to grate on you both and that’s all you moan about on the journey home.

The Elephant

This friends never forgets celebrations- unlike you both do. They send you cards for you birthdays and anniversaries when you missed theirs and start to blame each other for who forgot. The elephant never forgets insults either- they bring up with same old jokes and remember all the things you did wrong and tease you about them every time you get together. It was funny at first but now it’s OLD.

The Maverick

This friend is always up for a laugh but you know when you plan anything to tell them a time that’s an hour earlier so they will actually turn up at a reasonable hour. They are always late but you enjoy their company once they do arrive and some of your best nights have been with them.

The Scrooge

You don’t enjoy doing anything that involves money with this friend because they always disappear when it’s their round and get out the calculator on their phone if you go out for meal instead of just rounding up. You have learned to treat them differently from other friends because it’s always take, take, take with them and your joint account has been badly affected by paying for them in the past.

Steady Eddie

Your reliable friend who is always there for either, or both of you when you need them the most. If they tell you they are going to do something- they do it and don’t make empty promises. It makes them genuinely happy when you two are getting along because they value their friendship with both of you and never play you off against one another.
