Relationship Apps: Vital Signs Review

There really is an app for everything now and many relationship apps are taking the world by storm. Apps such as Pair and Tokii are helping couples to keep connected from wherever they may be.

Now Philips have launched the Vital Signs app which is supposed to tell you whether someone is attracted to you by detecting your heart and breathing rate.

Apparently, 50 per cent of men said they would use it to see if a woman is attracted to them.

We’re taking a look at the app to see if it really lives up to the hype!

What is does:

The app is designed to analyse a person’s levels of attraction towards you by monitoring a number of your vital signs.

You hold the app up and it will measure a person’s breathing rate as well as heart rate.

It works by detecting small changes of colour in a person’s face as well as small movements in their chest.

Good Points:

It is a really fun app, you can have a good time with it and it certainly gave us a few laughs in the office.

The technology behind it is really clever; monitoring your heart rate by the change of colour in your face is pretty impressive as well as measuring your breathing.

Downfalls:

You can only use the front camera on the iPhone which kind of defeats the point of the app a little. If you’re supposed to use it on other people then you’d have thought that you would have been able to use the camera on the back.

It’s a little tricky to use on yourself, you have to hold the camera really far back yet keep it steady and straight and still – which is a little difficult as we found that your arms won’t be quite long enough.

Verdict:

According to Phillips, 50 per cent of men said they would use this app but it seems as though it needs a little tweaking.

Making it so you can use both camera’s would be a massive plus, otherwise would you really use this app if you had to shove your phone in someone’s face or get them to do it themselves?

It could be really good fun if these few changes were made and would definitely get a lot more use from us!
