The number one reason "why you shouldn't let age get in the way of finding love" is, we are the baby boomers. We invented young. Before the birth of the baby boomer generation, our forebears would be old and sedentary in their 50's, (two world wars shaped the views of millions in western societies). Not for us, post war we enjoyed the birth and the longevity of the greatest music scene ever, including the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, The Who, the Doors, and of course the fabulous Beach Boys, the list is endless!

In second place, the three G's, gorgeous, glamorous and gutsy…. The sheer number of us guarantees that the markets will never ignore us. We can nip and tuck, blur facial lines, have hair extensions, teeth whiteners, and just be fabulous, (if not a little eccentric). If a little help from the aesthetic industries isn't for you, then healthy eating and exercise helps us not only to look good, but feel good to.

The dating pool is bigger than it's ever been. More relaxed attitudes to divorce is just one of the reasons why. People are not willing to put up with unhappy relationships. Likeminded people are out there still searching for that special someone. Bonus if you are willing to trek to Nepal… Which takes us neatly on to reason number four.

Life is an adventure. Think, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, with the gorgeous Judy Dench, a mere 76-year-old at the time, falling for the charming Bill Nighy, ten years her junior…Coincidentally, a sixty-three-year-old friend of mine, has just completed a round the world sail on a wooden hulled yacht with a partner she met on line, absolutely true. Whilst that may be a tad over adventurous for most of us, the possibilities are still limitless. Sharing adventures with a significant other is no longer the remit of the young.

Technology contrary to popular belief does not scare us, we grew up with it. Technology evolved around us, mobile phones and automated machines for example, and of course the internet. Most of us had access to the first computers; mainly in the workplace, (a truly great improvement on the typewriter)! The internet is the best dating tool around. Approximately a third of on-line daters are over the age of fifty, and the numbers continue to grow.

To sum up, we have the capacity to love at any age. "Age is just a number is a truism". Love is good for your health, it lowers blood pressure, it is good for your heart biologically, and improves emotional responses, it decreases a person's likelihood of getting depressed, and has a positive effect on your immune system. Love leads to a longer happier life. So the question we should really be asking ourselves is, why would you let age get in the way of finding love?
