Will you find love while in the chilled aisle?

Will you find love while in the chilled aisle?

With one in eight people who have given their number to a fellow supermarket shopper- it would appear that your local grocery store catches people in a good mood- good enough for a date, according to Shopitize! Many people have met the love of their life in the supermarket and a lot have gone on to date someone they have met in the shops. So why is this the case? We find out!

Personality- A shopping basket can be indicative of your personality-whether you are a health and fitness bunny, a junk food binger- an everything in moderation sort of gal. From a few items in your basket- men can figure out what sort of lifestyle you lead. Two thirds of daters said that they would be attracted to someone with similar shopping habits- a frugal foodie or a cash splasher.

Variety- There are people from all walks of life in the supermarket making your choices a little easier- not everyone is looking for love but might find it nevertheless when they leave! You are all in there for a reason too so there is less pressure and it’s easier to break the ice when you are not there solely to find a date.

Atmosphere- It is more relaxed then a bar or a club where there is often only you, your date and couples all around- in a supermarket there is everyone from families, to couples, singles and groups of friends- everyone is doing their own thing and the feeling of judgement and nervousness fades quickly.

Timing- Early evening is  popular time for singles to browse the aisles and a Saturday is the most common time for men to stock up- so if you are single and looking for love then changing your regular shopping day might just bring you ‘the one’!

Pizza- Stats show that pizza is one of the top five most purchased products in a supermarket- so make sure that you buy at least one every time you shop and who knows who you will be sharing it with!

UK leading Psychologist Dr David Holme commented:

“Lust-fuelled moments in darkened clubs and bars are the worst times to be selecting a partner for life. In contrast, in the clear light of the supermarket aisle, the contents of our trolley will say more about our personalities and habits than interrogation by a dating website. Anxious approaches and trite chat-up lines are not needed when you can offer to help pass goods or give advice in an unpretentious easy atmosphere, free from deafening DJs or hundreds of prying eyes. In the relaxed supermarket isles, we are more likely to engage naturally with prospective partners than be subject to the artificial barrage of people ‘on the look out’.”
