The Double Tree by Hilton Wroclaw opened its doors on the 10th August 2016 so I was invited to the official opening party 29th October to share my thoughts.

Double Tree by Hilton Wroclaw

Prior to the opening night, I was able to have a few days to experience the hotel and what it had to offer.

Within the hotel complex, there is 135 guest bedrooms, 12 suites, including a Presidential suite (which has an amazing view over Slowacki Park) and 28 executive rooms. There is something for everyone whether it's sightseeing with the family, visiting on business or you just fancy a break- there is a room to suit your needs. The hotel has a stylish restaurant and bar area called The Ovo, an outside eating area, privately owned apartments, shops and businesses and they are all within the six-story complex. From the outside- it looks like a huge ocean liner. It's a very stylish and a unique piece of architecture with its curved lines, Corian facia and big windows. The top three levels all had balconies overlooking the city or the courtyard below.

When entering the hotel- you first notice how big and airy the foyer is. It flows nicely into The Ovo Bar and Restaurant area. Every guest is offered a warm cookie on arrival that smells and tastes delicious. The flooring in the foyer, which flows through the whole of the ground floor looks like cobbles. It's a very distinctive feature as most of the streets of Wroclaw are cobbled. The designers clearly wanted to bring key features from the outside in.

The bedrooms where bright, well equipped and had big comfortable beds, this is certainly something you need at the end of a busy day; each bedroom has a unique feature headboard which is a fine piece of art in itself. The bathrooms are very modern, clean and well set out. My room overlooked one of Wroclaw's busiest roads; you could see all the hustle and bustle going on outside. Commuters, cars trams but the room was so quiet you couldn't hear any of it.

The dining is in The Ovo Bar and Restaurant where you can eat at any time during the day. You can enjoy a selection of freshly prepared food from snacks to a la carte dining, depending on how hungry you are. The steak was amazing- that's my recommendation if you're eating in at the hotel.

If you're staying in the executive rooms, you are able to use the executive lounge. If you fancy a drink whether your tipple is a glass of wine, beer or a soft drink- you can indulge here. You may be tempted to try one of the hotel's designer cocktails and a little nibble. If so- why not try tapas? The octopus, pulled pork and marinated beef were spectacular!

Breakfast was served in The Ovo Restaurant and offered a selection of continental breakfast options. This included; fresh salmon, cheeses, yogurts, fresh fruit, croissants or the full English breakfast. Everything was freshly made and you could even have it in your room if you wanted some privacy from the other guests in the morning.

The hotel also boasts a fully equipped gym for those of you who want to burn the calories off after all that fabulous food.

It's important to note that the hotel has seven meeting rooms, a ballroom and underground parking. It would be the perfect place to hold a wedding or a special function.

It's hard to imagine that this spectacular hotel is situated on what was originally a car park, backing on to the post office so the designers have successfully merged the old with the new it's a fabulous piece of architecture.

The location of the Double Tree by Hilton Wroclaw is brilliant for accessibility. A five-minute walk takes you into the picturesque city centre, which is steeped in history. The Town Hall and square hosting the flower market are two attractions not to be missed. If you get the chance join one of the city guides, it will take you to all the interesting must see places, and you will find out why there are so many little gnomes dotted around the city.

To add to its impressive list of facilities, the Double Tree by Hilton Wroclaw is situated in the European Capital of the Year so it's definitely a destination worth a visit.

I also have to thank General Manager at DoubleTree by Hilton Wroclaw Matthias Herd and all his staff for their hospitality- everyone was very polite and helpful during my stay.
