British Prime Minister Gordon Brown might force Prince William to wait to wed his longtime girlfriend Kate Middleton.
Royal sources claim the pair were planning to wed next summer, but have had to scrap plans to make way for a General Election, which must be held before June 3, 2010.
Brown could choose to call the election early, but is likely to leave it as late as possible due to poor opinion polls.
A June election would likely rule out a 2010 wedding, as protocol prevents the royal family from doing anything to detract attention from an election.
Queen Elizabeth has even postponed planned visits because they clashed with various elections.
Royal aides are also reportedly worried political parties could use a royal wedding for their own ends.
It now seems likely William and Kate - who have been dating for eight years - will wed in 2011.
