Britain's Prince Charles and wife Camilla were termed a "BOGOF of royals" by a UK high street retailer.

Sir Stuart Rose made the joke - which refers to shop talk for an offer where customers buy one item and get one free - as the royals toasted the 125th anniversary of Marks and Spencer.

Thanking the royals for attending the party at a store in London's Westfield Shopping Centre, Stuart laughed: "It's a great honour that you've joined us on our 125th celebration birthday. We're particularly honoured you've both joined us today. It's what we know in retail speak as a 'twofor' -  two for the price of one.

I could have made it a 'bogof', but I may find I may pay for that eventually!

Staff in the shop burst into laughter as he made his speech.

Showing her solidarity to the famous British brand, Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, attended the event dressed in skirt and blouse she had bought from one of its outlets.

While they were there, the couple perused displays - with Charles seeming particularly taken with a range of socks - and drank Marks and Spencer brand champagne.
