Britain's Camilla, the Duchess of York, watched a man shave his beard for charity in Scotland yesterday (15.01.09).
Camilla had a front-row seat to see Ed Bushnell, from the Scottish town of Crathie, in Royal Deeside, shave off a beard he had been growing for 12 months to raise money for charity.
Bushnell raised £5,100 for Crathie Opportunity Holidays, a charity where volunteers have transformed 200-year-old stable buildings into holiday cottages for people with disabilities.
One thing we have had all along is tremendous support from all of the Royal Family.
The duchess - who is a patron of the charity - watched as Bushnell's wife trimmed her husband's beard with sheep shears, before a professional hairdresser took over.
When it was all over, the smooth-faced Bushnell presented Camilla with a box of his wife's shortbread and thanked her for her involvement in the charity.
He said: "One thing we have had all along is tremendous support from all of the Royal Family."
Camilla - who is currently staying at nearby Balmoral Estate with her husband Prince Charles - was given a guided tour of the facilities before chatting to local people.
She later joined a meeting of the Scottish Women's Rural Institute in Ballater, a small town in central Scotland, where she is an honorary member.
