Britain's Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall has visited Bath's Theatre Royal.

The duchess - who is the theatre's new patron - was treated to a musical number from the troupe's 'Jack and the Beanstalk' pantomime before meeting the cast and crew.

Theatre Royal director Danny Moar said: We've had an association with royalty for 200 years, so this is a great privilege and something we are very excited about

Camilla was particularly interested in the production's star Lewis Bradley, who was the runner-up on television series 'Any Dream Will Do'.

He said: "Her Royal Highness recognised me from the TV, and said she'd been a big fan. I asked 'did you vote for me?', and she promised that she had!"

The 61-year-old royal also met performers from the two other auditoriums - the Ustinov and the Egg Theatre, which is designed for children.

'Jack and the Beanstalk' director Chris Harris said: "Her Royal Highness was delighted with the routine we performed and said how important it was to keep people laughing.

"She also said she was looking forward to bringing her two young granddaughters to a pantomime soon."
