Camilla Has Mayor For Tea

The duchess - who is married to Prince Charles - met the politician at Clarence House for a cup of Earl Grey tea yesterday (09.03.10) where they discussed their mutual interest in improving the help and services currently given to victims of sexual assaults in the capital.

The pair are both keen to improve services for women, with Camilla most recently meeting with detectives from Metropolitan Police's Sapphire unit, which investigates sexual assaults across London, in order to gain a greater understanding of the issues facing women.

In November last year she visited a rape crisis centre in London where she spoke to women who were in the process of receiving long term counselling.

The mayor - who announced on Monday (08.03.10) that three new rape crisis centres would open in London this year, increasing their number to four - appears just as keen to improve sexual violence relations.

The development, which came on International Women's Day, will see the first new centre open in west London next month.
