'Coronation Street' actor Chris Fountain does not like the deep-V shirts his character Tommy Duckworth is often seen wearing in the ITV1 soap.

Chris Fountain does not like his 'Coronation Street' alter ego's clothes.

The 23-year-old - who plays ladies man Tommy Duckworth in the ITV1 soap - admitted he is body conscious onscreen and usually mocks people who wear the deep-V necked shirts his character favours.

Oh God, those tops! I take the p**s out of people who wear those!

He said: "Oh God, those tops! I take the p**s out of people who wear those!"

Chris also admitted he feels "body conscious" and can get upset when people criticise his physique.

He said: "I am body conscious. It's a massive part of this industry and I think it's just as difficult for boys as girls. Sometime, when I've read negative stuff people have said about my body in the past, it has made me sad.

"Luckily for me, I'm not massively insecure so I can kind of deal with it. I don't really care what anyone says. But I don't want to have to wander around in my pants if people are slating me. It doesn't make you want to get to the gym when you can."

But Chris - who is also known for a previous role playing 'Hollyoaks' hunk Justin Burton - admitted he used to be insecure, but now he "doesn't care what anyone thinks".

Asked what it is like being the only attractive member of the 'Coronation Street' cast, Chris told Heat magazine: "Thank you. That's nice. Yeah, I suppose so. It feels nice, but I wasn't paranoid about it before.

"I did get insecure when I was younger, but now if I'm happy and my family's happy and my girlfriend's happy, then I don't care what anyone else thinks.

"You've got to let criticism go over your head and be positive. I think in the last couple of years I've really found that side of me."
