400 guests have been invited to the christening of Princess Estelle of Sweden.

The ceremony for the daughter of Crown Princess Victoria and her husband Prince Daniel - who was born on February 23 - will be held on May 22 at the Royal Chapel located in the Royal Palace in Stockholm, followed by a reception at the Bernadotte apartments in the palace.

The dress code includes morning dress for the ladies and dark suits for the men.

Archbishop Anders Wejryd will preside over the service and he will be assisted by the court chaplain, Bishop Emeritus Lars-Goran Lonnermark and Stockholm Dean, Ake Bonnier.

Estelle's parents have asked that those wishing to give a gift make a donation to the Crown Princess Wedding Foundation which aims to promote good health and combat exclusion among children and adolescents in Sweden.

Estelle's aunt Princess Madeleine - who paid a visit to Sweden from her home in New York recently - has previously called her niece a "miracle".

She said: "My main reason for coming home was to meet my sister and Daniel's daughter, little Estelle, and this is the first time I have become an aunt. She really is a little miracle - just like all babies. It's wonderful being an aunt, and I'm so proud for Victoria and Daniel. I don't know how many times I've been to Haga [Palace] during the last few days. It's been really hard to stay away."
