The Duchess of Cornwall has cancelled her first official royal visit.Camilla Parker Bowles, who married Britain's Prince Charles nine days ago, was due to visit Southampton General Hospital next Monday (25.04.05) as her first solo official duty.But the 57-year-old royal has now pulled out of the engagement, triggering reports that she is not yet ready to take on royal visits without her husband.A hospital source said: There was to have been a visit by the Duchess of Cornwall in her capacity as patron of the National Osteoporosis Society, but that has now been postponed and no new date has been scheduled.But Clarence House spokesmen claimed the visit had been axed because of the forthcoming British election.Patrick Harrison, Prince Charles press secretary, said the Duchess' visit was being postponed amid fears that it could be high-jacked by activists seeking to showcase their own political agendas. He said: The Election was called and so the visit was postponed until after that.
