Britain's Prince of Wales' organic food brand Duchy Originals is expected to generate £1 million for charity in the first year since it was relaunched.
Britain's Prince Charles' food brand Duchy Originals is set to generate £1 million for charity.
The natural and sustainable food products -founded by the Prince of Wales in 1990 - experienced its first full year of trading following a relaunch of the business, and accounts published show it made an annual profit of £2.25 million.
Of that, £625,000 was donated to charity, and the remainder has been used to pay a loan the company received when it experienced a loss due to difficult trading conditions.
Mark Price, managing director of Waitrose, which sells the products, claimed the brand was a "successful" one within the company.
He said: "These figures reflect an extremely successful start for Duchy Originals from Waitrose and we look forward to announcing next year that the charity donation for our first 12 months of trading has significantly exceeded our £1million commitment."
Prince Charles set up the brand in a bid to create organic food which "is good, does good and tastes good".
