British royals have boosted heptathlete Jessica Ennis' chances of success at the London Olympics.

The 25-year-old star admitted the presence of Prince William, Duchess Catherine and Prince Harry at a number of events throughout the spectacle has made her even more determined to win gold for Team GB in the heptathlon.

Jessica - who met the royal trio earlier this week - said: "Obviously having this royal visit is a real boost, and very exciting."

Earlier today (03.08.12), Jessica made the perfect start to her Olympics campaign by setting the world best time in the 100 metre heptathlon hurdles - 12.54 seconds - at the Olympic Stadium in Stratford, east London.

The brunette star is not the only Team GB member to have been inspired by the royal family as swimmer Liam Tancock recently admitted he was surprised how much William, Harry and Catherine - who was known as Kate Middleton prior to tying the knot with William last year - knew about the Olympians.

He added: "There were people chanting our names like we were rock stars or something.

"I am proud to be British and the royal family have done a lot for Britain. They actually do know a lot about sport and a lot about us."
